Bayreuth Mathematics Professor Named SIAM Fellow

Prof. Dr. Lars Grüne, Chair of Applied Mathematics, has been named a Fellow of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). With this distinction, the professional society recognises his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of mathematical control and systems theory.
With around 11,000 members, SIAM is the largest and most important international professional society in applied mathematics. Being named a SIAM Fellow is a significant honour within the mathematical community. SIAM awards this title to researchers who have made exceptional contributions to applied mathematics through their research, teaching, and scientific work.
"The appointment is a great recognition of my research, and I am very pleased about it. This distinction motivates me to continue working on innovative solutions to real-world problems, as applied mathematics plays a key role in many current scientific and technological challenges – from sustainable energy generation to artificial intelligence," says Grüne.
