"Goldener Rabe" for Christina Schwarz
In 2025, the university teaching award, the ‘Goldener Rabe’, goes to Christina Schwarz, M.Sc. and Johannes Häring M.Sc. (shared award).
Mathematics at a high academic level – for many students, this sounds like dry theory and abstract formulas. Christina Schwarz proves that it can be quite different in her exercise on ‘Higher Mathematics 2’. She succeeds in doing something that is rare in this demanding subject: she conveys complex content so clearly, vividly and tangibly that even the most difficult topics quickly become accessible.
With understandable, sometimes playful tasks, Christina Schwarz creates a learning atmosphere in which genuine understanding can grow. Innovative teaching methods, such as digital quizzes via QR code, allow students to participate in a playful way. Her palpable desire to truly include everyone makes all the difference. The exercise thus becomes a place where mathematics is not only learned, but also experienced with joy. The success of this approach is impressively demonstrated by the popularity of her exercises: numerous students specifically attend Christina Schwarz's classes. The exercise rooms are regularly even more crowded than the lecture that takes place beforehand. But even in a packed lecture hall, no one is afraid to ask a question. Everyone is met where they are.
Further information on the 'Goldener Rabe' and previous winners can be found in German on the pages on university-wide awards.
